They say 80% of all golfers play with back pain at one point in their golfing career. Wow! That's a big number. In fact, if this is true...this explains what I've been trying to say all along. Doing back exercises specific for golfers is the ONLY way to prevent and eliminate back pain forever! Hitting more balls isn't going to strengthen your back, nor is taking more lessons for improved swing mechanics.

Exercises To Improve Back Strength

Back pain occurs for several reasons. It could stem from a previous injuries you incurred years ago, and you are dealing with scar tissue and inflammation. Even something as simple as muscle spasms can cause severe back pain. In any case, you need to implement some exercises specifically for your back strength to prevent further stress or injury. ight muscles surrounding the lower back including the glutes; and lastly weak muscles that protect the lower back from the stress the golf swing causes.

Exercises isolating the glutes, the hips and of couse the lower back will provide protection from the strain and stress of swinging a club for 18 holes of golf. The back exercises I am talking about can be done in your home with minimal equipment, or you can even do golf exercises in your office.. No need for a fitness club.

The most importan factor in this approach is being consistent and doing it regularly. That adherence will create results. Those results will keep you motivated and sticking with it for the long ter. Like an investment; what you put in, is what you get out!

Simple Stretching Exercises

Stretching the muscles in your lower back with simple exercises will completely eliminate your tightness and ease any pain you may be incurring. Stretching is such a "no-brainer" and yet so many golfers don't do it. I just shake my head when I hear a golfer complaining about their back hurting and I ask them what they are doing to make it better. They saying, "nothing". Where do you think nothing will get you? Nowhere! Address the issue and there is no issue!

Just like the strength exercises, the stretching should also target the glutes, hamstrings, hips and lower back. These are the key areas to target to eliminate back pain long term. Start your back exercises today, and become a pain-free golfer tomorrow!
