How Can Golf Exercise Equipment Help Your Golf?

I can hear your brain whirring: "Golf exercise equipment? What is that?" I bet you immediately think of large machines and gyms costing a month's pay just for the down payment.

Well, it doesn't have to be like that - it can be what you want it to be. In fact, quipment for golf can be both 'what' or 'where' you want it to be. It needn't just be in a gym, and needn't involve a golf ball.

A Medicine Ball for Power

How about a medicine ball instead? A leather medicine ball can weigh up to 20lb, and can be used in strength training programs for any sport. I have several exercises included in my golf-specific strength programs that are specifically designed for it, and due to its weight, a medicine ball is an ideal item of equipment that develops strength and power in the muscles you use for golf without the need for lifting heavy weights.

A Stability Ball for Balance and Core Strength

Another type of ball used in golf exercise programs is the exercise ball. "What's that?" you are probably, asking. It's a big ball about 22-26 inches diameter, sometimes called a Swiss ball, and originally used in physical rehab. clinics.

However, it now used in general sports fitness programs, and is an excellent piece of exercise for golf quipment for the development of core strength, balance and body stability, all of which are important aspects of the golf swing. Its low cost and portability render it a very useful tool.

Hand Weights for Strength

So, what other exercise equipment for golf can you use without spending a fortune? How about dumb-bells. These useful hand weights can be used in many exercise programs, such as simply swinging your arms holding the weight in place of a golf club. That's a great exercise for building strength, power and distance.

Exercise Tubing for Everyone

You can also use golf exercise tubing. This is not expensive and can be used to strengthen up all the muscles used in the golf swing simply by attaching to a door, or post, and swinging with it. You can carry it with you anywhere.

You will note that all of this golf exercise equipment is inexpensive, portable and useful in exercising the joints and muscles used in the swing. They can be used while simulating your own unique golf swing, which is something that many pieces of exercising equipment cannot achieve.

Equipment Need Not Be Expensive

True, there are other more expensive pieces of golf training equipment that will build strength and improve flexibility, but are they really necessary?

These four pieces of golf exercise equipment are all very useful in improving your golf swing and giving you the extra power and club-head speed required to vastly improve your distance.
