Golf Training > Golf Fitness > Fitness Training For GolfGolf Fitness Training In Your Home?
Look at all these fit young golfers taking over the game these days: guys like Tiger Woods who live on golf fitness training. How often have you heard it mentioned on TV. After all, it’s not as if there’s a lot involved, is it? What’s the main part of your golf game apart from being able to walk the course and keep still at the putt? The swing of course! It’s also the most complex action of just about any sport. It involves better timing of the power involved than throwing the discus or the hammer, two other sports requiring rotational movement. Do you think these guys train on a treadmill or exercise bike? What Is The Objective Of The Swing? Think what’s involved: a 42 inch weighted shaft has to be drawn back and unleashed with maximum power and split-second timing, so that the weight hits a small 1.68 inch ball at exactly the right place with exactly the right elevation to sent it soaring out to maximum length, or to land close to a four and a quarter inch hole. To achieve this you have to use most of the major muscle groups in your body and rotate your shoulder, hips and ankle joints while keeping everything else stays rock solid. To do that you have to maintain the flexibility and strength in the muscles and joints involved, and the way to do that is with golf fitness training. Exercise At HomeSo, how is it done? OK, the gym is great if you want to train your muscles for lifting weights, or to keep the flab down on exercise machines, but not to provide a golf fitness training program. No machine does that. Once you look closely at your swing mechanics you can devise some exercises of your own. Once you understand the rotation, muscles and joints involved, you can save your gym membership and do your golf fitness training at home. Two Examples Of Golf Fitness Training ExercisesFor example, take a weight like a small dumbbell, and practice your golf swing with the weight in your hand. This is a great golf fitness training exercise, and as your strength and flexibility improve you can progressively increase the weight. Attach some exercise tubing to your door and try your swing with that. You will note that both these ideas are very golf-specific, and you are continually working on the muscles and joints needed for your swing. This form of fitness for golf training is far more useful than any machine you find in a gym. If you want to be the envy of your foursome, get going with some of these exercise at home and your game will improved in no time. You will be amazed at how fast your body will respond to your new golf fitness training program.
