Improve Your Golf Swing With Simple
Strength And Conditioning Exercises
Don't run when you hear this! Improving your golf swing can happen very quickly
with a strength and conditioning program for golf. Golfers who workout are usually
better golfers. Now hear that again.
Golfers who exercise usually play better golf. It's not the other way around.
Which would be people who workout play great golf. NOT! You've obviously got
to be a golfer first, then the conditioning program pays off.
Golf Specific Strength Exercises
Improving your strength specific to golf entails exercises that closely mimic
your golf swing. There are others as well, but many simple exercises can be
done for different phases of your golf swing.
These simple
golf exercises can be done with exercise
tubing, weighted
medicine balls or even dumbbells. You may have even seen similar exercises
in magazines, on the television or at your local fitness club. These exercises
are not to be done with heavy weights or even fancy club equipment. In fact,
the machines in the gyms are the farthest thing you should do if you want to
play better golf.
Machines typically isolate one muscle group in a controlled manner dictated
by the machine. This is NOT golf-specific and may in fact hurt your swing not
help it! On the other hand, you can do the exact same movements of the golf
swing with tubing, medicine balls and dumbbells.
Year Around Conditioning Program
Golf conditioning should be a year round discipline! The pro's do it on the
Sunday of a tournament, so amateurs can most definitely do it throughout both
the off-season and during the season. During the season, you would do a maintenance-type
conditioning routine. Something less frequent per week, and maybe a tad less
intensity to save it for your golf .
Golf strength and conditioning programs should be an integral part of any golf
improvement program. Skipping this will not help you reach your true potential.
Fix your body and watch your swing transform!
