What you have to realise is that golf is now an athletic sport. Like any other sport, you have to train and build your strength to reach the top flight

Better Strength Mean better Golf

A stronger body plays better golf. Absolutely true! Weight training for golf will let you drive stronger and straighter. You’ll have more power with more accuracy, a lower score and a lower handicap.

In strengthening the joints and muscles you use in golf, you will improve your swing so you drive longer, and you develop the endurance to last the full 18 holes, day after day. And how about that putt! Not a waver in your arms or legs due to their extra strength! How about that? You’ll be rock steady due to your strength training.

Strenghten Your Back

Do you know that golf weight training exercises on your back will prevent lower back pain and go a long way toward improving your handicap? Even one simple exercise on your back can let you hit powerful balls all day. I give the name “Lying Superman” to this powerful little exercise. It makes an unbelievable difference to your strength; it is hard to believe until you do it, but it does, so go for it!

What you do is lie stomach down on the floor, with your hands by your sides. Raise your chest, arms and legs as high as you can and hold it for 10 seconds. That’s all there is to it! Do it just twice a day and you will not be bothered with lower back pain again. As a strength training exercise, it is as quick and as effective as you get.

You can hit practice balls all day, but it won’t bring the benefits that golf-specific strength training will. You need muscular strength for power and stamina.
