Golf Fitness > Golf Stretching > For improved shoulder turnStretching For A Bigger Shoulder Turn
What you're looking at here is a MRI of a golfers shoulder. Notice the stuff in there that looks like steak? Well...it is...sort of. Those "steaks" are the muscles of the shoulder girdle...the infamous "rotator cuff". Any baseball fan knows the rotator cuff is the most frequent injury sustained by a pitcher. But did you know, golfers also injure their rotator cuffs because of simply not having enough flexibility? To get to the top of not only your game but also your swing consistenty, you need to use simple golf specific shoulder stretch exercises which safely and naturally stretches your rotator cuff through it's normal range of motion. Think of it this way...when you make a swing and look at your right arm (if you are right handed) your shoulder rotates outward exposing your armpit. Now... as long as you're using a good antiperspirant you've got no problems with your foursome, but if you can't fully rotate that shoulder, you will never eliminate that golf backswing problem. I don't care if you use a medicus or any other trick teaching device...you will always have problems with your game. You can bank on that fact.
Take a look at the picture to your left. No...the photographer isn't demanding I give him all of my Titleist Pro-V's at gunpoint... I am doing a dynamic overhead stretch with a club. When doing this golf shoulder stretch exercises, make sure to keep your arms as straight as you can. You will find it difficult to get vertically above your head. Do this 10-15 times before you practice and play and it will make a big difference. Strengthen And Stretch Your Rotator Cuff MusclesThe rotator cuff muscles are the critical ones to target in your golf stretching for improved shoulder turn program. Flexibility of the rotator cuff muscle group is the key to getting to the top of and eliminating golf backswing problems and consistently making a full follow through in your finish. My golf stretching video is easy to do, simple to follow and the most effective method to getting a smooth swing and monster yardage. See you at the grill...this time you brings the steaks.
