I'm sitting on a stability ball for a reason. I want to take my lower body out of the equation for this golf strength exercise. I want to rotate just my upper body with resistance (a medicine ball or a single dumbbell) with no help from my lower body.

This is effective because you are truly relying on your upper body range of motion...no hip turn or legs involved. You need to implement many of these types of exercises that isolate specific areas of your body.
