In fact, my just-released golf stretching dvd can be done in the convenience of your home...and just 7minutes a day can give you that full backswing for maximum yards off the tee!
Static and dynamic stretches can both benefit the golfer! Static refers to the "old school" hold stretching, and the dynamic is the more modern, and incorporates movement stretches.
Static stretching is best done in between strength training exercises, after a warm shower in the morning, and after a round of golf.
Dynamic stretching is best for pre-round warm up, during play and before a practice session at the range.
The reason for the different times is the physical needs your body has at that moment. During play, your muscles need to be relaxed and flexible with lots of fluidity to them. This is accomplished via dynamic (movement) golf stretches.
When you're "off the course, static stretching is perfect. The best time is after a warm shower or in the early evening before your body starts cooling down.
Doing stretches specific for golf is not the ONLY thing you should focus on! A flexible muscle that is weak will be a fragile muscle, so simple strengthening exercises are part of your golf improvement mix.Stretching a muscle beyond it’s normal range of motion without strengthening it will only break the muscle fibers down through time.
Strengthening your golf muscles with resistance in those newfound ranges of motion will enhance permanent flexibility gains, resulting in a higher level of golf performance.
If you want to play better golf, you must be consistent with your stretching program. The bright side is you can be successful in less than 7 minutes a day you will see major improvements. If you "hit-and-miss it" you won’t see any improvement at all. You get out of it what you put into it.
Doing my golf stretching dvd 3-4 times a week for 7 minutes will give you more than enough benefit to make it worth your while.
