Golf Training > Golf Swing > No More Golf SliceThree Anti Slice Golf Adjustments For Quick On-Course FixesIf you are prone to slice the ball now again while out on the course you need a few anti slice adjustments that you can employ as a stand by measure until your pro helps you to fix it more permanently, or you find or some other cure for your golf slice. There are one or two things you can do to overcome the effects of your slice on a temporary basis, at least to help you salvage your round without too much damage. The first is based on the visible effect of the slice: the swing out to the right, or to the left if you are a left hander. If your ball always lands right of where you are aiming, then why not aim more to the left? Not Everyone Can Afford A Professional Golf CoachThat is what many golfers do, even tour professionals, in order to overcome the effect of the slice until they have finished their round. In the case of the tour pros, they then run to their golf coach and get the problem fixed on a more permanent basis in time for their next golf round. You and I, however, probably have to find a cheaper solution than a professional golf coach, which is why many ordinary men and women simply keep aiming to the left this way for the rest of their golf playing days. They possibly notice the loss in length and accuracy that this brings, but probably learn to live with it until it becomes a normal part of their game. After all, many golfers use a slice as part of their game, although in the controlled variety of the shot called a fade. Golfers such as Colin Montgomerie generally prefer to fade the golf ball into the target than hit straight to it. However, these guys know what they are doing, and can control the degree of it, while the amateur golf slicer sometimes slices and sometimes doesn’t, so that they never really know where the ball is going to land after they hit it. Uncertainty Is Part Of The Fun Of GolfHowever, perhaps that uncertainty is part of the fun of the game of golf to some people, though not to those who make a living out of the game. Aiming left of target can compensate to an extent in that the golf ball is liable to land closer to the intended point than if they made no adjustment and sliced it . Another quick anti golf slice fix for a golfer is to strengthen their grip. This doesn’t mean to grip the shaft a lot tighter, but to adjust the grip so that the hands are holding the club more to the right than normal. This will bring the club face round quicker and straighten it up more before it hits the ball. Some practice will be needed to get the right position of the grip, but this can be a very effective remedy for a golf slice, and in some cases even a permanent cure. The third quick fix is to adjust the position of your feet. A common reason for a golf slice is to have your feet pointing in the wrong direction when you drive. If your feet are pointing too far to the left of the target, you will tend to swing across the golf ball, and even if your club face is exactly where it should be at the moment of impact, your swing is not straight to the target but to left of it, and you will slice the ball. Club Face Orientation Is KeySwinging across the ball rather than straight into it is probably the most common reason for a golf slice, and repositioning the feet to point more to the right can sometimes resolve this. You can tell that you are swinging across the ball if your ball starts out to the left. If your club face was orientated correctly, the ball will get the clockwise spin and eventually turn to the right. The turn will become more pronounced until your ball is swinging away out to the right. Frequently, this type of slice takes your ball more off course than if it were due only to too weak a grip. If your grip was also weak, the slice will even more pronounced, and if your grip was too strong you would just hit the ball straight out to the left or even hook it. You can usually tell from the initial and final directions of the ball what the cause of your slice was, and any one of these three anti slice golf adjustments should be able to be applied as a temporary fix until your round is finished.
