Never
buy golf swing training aids just because they are well advertised and claim
to be the best way to improve your game. Sure, they can help improve your game,
but only if they are working on a specific weakness that you have.
Many golfers have a poor opinion of golf swing training aids simply because they have been foolish enough to purchased a ‘fad’ which everybody seems to have, or because they have seen it on just about every TV station around. Wrong reasons! The equipment frequently ends up in the shed, never again to see the light of day. Perhaps you need a training aid and perhaps not, but don’t just rush and buy something because it looks good.
First of all identify your weaknesses. What parts of your swing need improvement? If you are not playing as you would like to, ask for advice. Maybe one of your foursome can point out a weakness to you or you may want to get professional advice. The important point is that you should identify a part of your swing and drive that needs improvement. Are you lacking direction? Do you have a slice or a hook? Once you establish the fault, then you can look around and find out if there are any golf swing training aids available that could possibly correct it.
If you know someone that uses the same piece of equipment you have your eyes on, ask for advice. It might look pretty or very technical or well engineered, but does it do the job you need it for? Golf swing training aids can work very well in certain circumstances, but if you choose one to suit your specific requirements you will dramatically improve your chances of eliminating your problem.
First make sure that you have gone as far as you can in conditioning your muscles with golf-specific training exercises. Once you are certain that your problem is not simply due to a lack of flexibility or strength you can check out suitable golf swing training aids with the help of expert advice.
Don’t buy to impress your buddies – buy to improve your golf swing.
