Golf Training > Golf Swing > Improve Golf NewsletterImprove Golf Swing NewsletterGolf Fitness Tip - Improve Your Core For More PowerDo you want to know the quickest way to reach all your holes in regulation? It doesn't involve a golf swing tip or lesson. It's a common term among the touring pros. It's your core! The center of your body. This area is the power generator in your golf swing. By focusing on both your core strength and flexibility, you will quickly see improvement in your driving distance and greens in regulation statistics. Being able to fully rotate on your backswing will allow you to store maximum torgue to unleash into your downswing. This "unforced effort" will come with ease. You will truly be amazed at how quickly you'll add 10, 20 even 30 yards to your drives. Here's the secret golf fitness tip for the day! Focus on ONLY rotational movements to see the quickest results. If you only have 10 minutes a day, then do 2 core rotational strength exercises and two flexibility exercises. If you have more time, you'll want to break up your core strength and flexibility to really see a benefit. One of the easiest ways to improve your golf specific flexibility is with our 7 minute golf stretching dvd. It only takes 7 minutes, but the results will astound you. Golf Instruction Tip - Golf Swing Power MoveHere's a great, very simple drill that with constant repetition will teach you a crucial backswing move. To do this drill grab a towel and place it on the ground if you are doing this outside so you don't get your pants dirty. Now kneel down on your knees and hold your driver behind your back so that it is resting between your elbows and place your hands on your hips. Also, when doing this drill make sure your knees are about shoulder width apart or just fractionally inside and your posture is the same as it would normally be if you were addressing a shot. From this kneeling setup position simply turn your shoulders as much as you can to the right as you would normally do on your backswing. And when doing this let your left hip turn to the right with your turn. But your knees should not move and you will feel some resistance down your left-hand side. Do this exercise over and over again to ingrain this backswing feeling. And when you go to swing normally you should have a new feeling in your backswing. A much more powerful, loaded up feeling. This will definitely help you to get more consistent, increased distance. And I'm sure you'll like that! This week's golf tip was provided by How To Break 80! Some are preparing to make their mark on the professional tours, some are trying to break 100 and others are somewhere in between. Even though there is a huge difference in the natural talent and mechanical skills within this wide range of golfers, there is a common denominator that allows me to help all of them. All golfers, including Tiger Woods, experience a certain degree of negative emotions, which adversely affect their brain's chemistry and performance. All I have to do to help a golfer shoot lower scores at any level is show them how to reduce their negative emotions and increase their positive emotions. It is almost like magic and works every time if you use "The Mental Keys". The more you learn to master your emotions, the better you will play at any level. The more you master your mechanics, the lower you will score. It doesn't get any simpler than that. In golf most negative emotions originate from concern of the outcome. The key to controlling your emotions is to realize that you can not serve two masters and be effective. You can choose to be process oriented or remain concerned with the outcome. The only purpose that the outcome has is to give you direction and feedback to make the necessary adjustments to improve your mechanical and mental games. If you train you mind to focus solely on the process of improving and do the work, it is only a matter of time until you achieve your desired outcome. If you insist on serving two masters by being concerned with the outcome while you are trying to improve the process, you greatly diminish your chances for success.
