Golf Training > Golf Swing > Improve Your Golf SwingImprove Your Golf Swing With Flexibility ExercisesOne of the quickest ways to improve your golf swing is flexibility exercises. Being able to make a full backswing with minimal tension will get you a long ways to playing better golf. Flexibility Specific To Your Golf Swing Isolating you golf swing muscles with flexibility exercises is an approach you cannot ignore. Stretching based on the biomechanics of your golf swing will give you the quickest results. The golf swing has three main positions you should focus on. The backswing, impact and the follow through. These are the biomechanical components of your flexibility program. If you take a look at the golf swing flexibility exercise I am doing with my club. Does it resemble any phase of the golf swing? Your backswing right? Target Areas Specific To Your Limitations Some of the most common swing faults are the slice, hook, topped and thin shots. These are all caused by the body's inability to remain stable throughout your golf swing. By focusing on flexibility exercises to improve these limitations, you will give yourself the best shot at making a sound and repeatable golf swing for 18 holes. Use Your Club For Your Golf Flexibility Exercises As in the top picture and the one to the right, I am using a club. Why? Because the golf swing involves a club, so anytime you can incorporate it with your flexibility program, you are making it more golf swing specific. The club also allows you to create leverage for a better stretch and more improvement. Using the golf club to twist further or balance with is a great help. Older Golfers Benefit The Most The main cause of declining performance with the older golfer is usually a rapid loss in range of motion specific to the golf swing. As each year goes by, you lose a little bit more on your backswing and follow through. Within just a few years, you notice your driving distance has dropped off by up to 40 yards or more and your scores are showing it. The ONLY way to "stop the bleeding" is to implement some flexibility exercises for your golf swing. The sooner you do, the sooner you will see improvement on the course. Your Body Swings The Club If you are one of those golfers who is experiencing the above mentioned decline in your game and performance, wouldn't you at least investigate more into this golf swing flexibility approach? Don't you think it will make a noticable difference in your swing? Focusing on your specific golf swing limitations and swing faults will help you outline a thorough and concise flexibility program for total golf improvement. It Only Takes A Few Minutes Each Day If time is a valuable commodity you don't have a lot of, then doing just 3-4 rotational stretches daily and you'll see a huge difference in your power and distance. Core Flexibility Training Will Improve Driving Distance If you take another quick look at the two pictures in this article, you will notice something common in both stretches. I am rotating my uppper body similar to my golf swing. The area I am really focusing on is my core flexibilty. This will give me the biggest "bang for my buck" when it comes to hitting longer drives consistently. If you want a simple stretching program, you might want to take a look at my golf stretching dvd.
