Increase Your Golf Swing Speed

Longer drives (not in your car) is only a click away!

Longer drives...everybody wants one. Except if your stuck in traffic in LA.

With that yearning to crush your drives...comes the need for both an increase in your golf swing speed and the solidness of hit between ball and clubface.

Swing harder! Isn't that how you get higher swing speeds? I have come to the conclusion that most golfers think that as they all step up to the tee and swing out of their shoes hoping for longer drives. But the six million dollar question is...did you hit it longer? I'll bet not. Wanta know why? The key word was swinging "harder", which means tight and very slow muscles, not fast muscles like you wanted.

It's Your Core!

In order to have a higher swing speed, you need to be able to turn back and through at a higher rate of speed, which requires core strength and flexibility. Now don't get worried that I'm going to tell you, you need to become a gym rat to hit it long...cause I won't.

In fact, just a couple of easy core exercises can make all the difference in the world! Just improving your turn one inch on the backswing is huge in regards to swing speed and distance.

Just take a look at the main movement in the golf swing!

It's rotational!

Want to do the same exercises Tiger does to increase swing speed?

In ALL sports movement...what dictates the power? One guess. It's your core. That?s why athletes spend so much time throwing weighted medicine balls, pulling weighted cables and doing tons of twisting exercises with resistance.

The same approach should be taken for the golfer wanting to improve golf swing speed. Start with simple rotational exercises that incorporate both strength and flexibility like the seated rotation with a club.

  • Sit upright with a club on your shoulders behind your neck.
  • Grab each end with your hands.
  • While facing forward, focusing straight ahead, rotate to the right and back to the left.
  • You will feel tight and restricted at first.
  • Maintain an erect posture with eyes straight ahead.
  • Do this slowly at first, then build up the rate of speed.
  • Rotate back and through 10 times for 3 sets.

This is a starting (basic) core exercise that will make a HUGE difference if you haven't worked on your core before. You will notice a difference in your range of motion and power output on the course quickly.

You would then progress up to more resistance related rotational exercises with handweights, tubing (cables), weighted medicine balls and even weighted clubs.

With just a little bit of effort you will see a dramatic increase in golf swing speed!
