Golf Training > Golf Swing > Perfect Or Not?Is there Such A Thing As The Perfect Golf Swing?
The perfect golf swing is a personal thing, and is one that works, time and time again, to send the ball in exactly the same direction and for exactly the same distance, commensurate with club selection, time after time, weather conditions permitting. There is not really such a thing as a perfect swing that every golfer can be trained to use. The golf tours display a large number of different swings, though there is something in common with them all. They are repeatable time and time again. An individual golfer’s swing might look wrong to you, but they play it the same way each time with the same results. It could be argued, then, that the perfect swing is one that is repeatable. The purpose of a golf swing is to make the golf club hit the ball to a desired position. Any swing that achieves that could be described as the perfect swing. It should produce speed on the downswing, bring the club face to the ball at exactly the right time and hit it cleanly to the intended position. It is not to hit the ball as far as possible, since, although that might be the objective with many tee shots, it is not always, and certainly is not when playing to the green. It’s All in the RhythmHow do you achieve this consistency in your swing? First of all you need rhythm. You can achieve this if your backswing is slow and steady. If you yank the club back fast and then let loose, you might get lucky, but you won’t have the rhythm necessary to repeat your swing time after time. So go steady on the backswing. You will learn through practice rather than reading, and if you try to think too much during your swing you will blow it. Just remember that the swing is an unnatural rotational movement, and you learn it through practice, not diagrams or written instructions. No good player learned their swing from a book. You learn on the practice range, and during golf instruction. If you look at what the pros are doing on the tour, and try to do the same yourself, you will not succeed. Partially this is due to the fact that each person has their own swing mechanics, and if you spot a particular movement being made by a pro, it may be to overcome some deficiency. Perhaps he uses a short roundhouse backswing and so straightens up a lot quicker than you would. If you try that you will likely hook the ball way out left. The Other Guy’s Perfect Swing might not be YoursHowever, if that guy can swing the club the same way every time, and the ball goes where he wants, it is his perfect swing. It is not necessarily yours. You develop yours based upon your own physique, your own joints and muscles and your own equipment. So, how do you attain your own perfect golf swing? Through instruction and practice. First have your club pro look at your swing and give his opinion. If you need specific instruction he will tell you, and then you can book a few lessons from him, or even try a golf school. You will be shown the proper way to swing a golf club so that you hit the ball in the right direction. Your stance and grip will be adjusted to rid yourself of problems such as slices, and if you ask nicely, you might also be shown how to adjust your grip and stance, while maintaining the same swing, to fade and draw the ball. There may or may not be a perfect golf swing as such, but if you swing the
golf club the same way every time you do it, then that is your perfect swing,
and all you need worry about. Golf Swing Resource Golf Swing Eureka. Learn simple tips, technique and secrets over 99% of the golfing population don't know. Gain the edge over all the golfers you play with! Mike Pedersen More Golf Swing |
