Have you ever thought of your golf swing and wondered if yours is a proper golf swing. You may have wondered about this while looking at the way professionals swing on DVD, or even live. They seem to do it different to you

What you must keep in mind that every golfer is different. Don't listen to all the golf swing tips your buddies tell you! Each has his unique swing. Therefore, what you have to do is develop a proper golf swing that is unique and comfortable to you, not try to adapt someone else’s swing to suit you.

Nick Price was considered one of the best ball strikers of his time. His golf swing was so simple and repeatable. He had a golf swing with power, and worked on fundamentals all day long!.

A proper golf swing is crucial, because without executing all of the components of a swing properly you will never play to your potential. It is this lack of a proper swing that causes so many chronic injuries in golfers, and leads them to leave the game eventually, through a lack of progress.

Golf Swing Components

If you have a close look at a swing, and break it down into its component parts, it will help you develop a proper golf swing, with optimal golf swing timing of your own. There is the backswing, which starts at the legs and hips, and where you prepare to unleash all that power in your body.

Then comes the downswing, where you unleash that power and transfer it into clubhead speed, and finally the impact and follow through, where you transfer all the power of your body to the ball. The follow through is essential in achieving this, because the clubhead must be travelling at maximum speed on impact. Think of your club as a lever, which must follow through a full circle, with the ball half way between the start and the finish of the lever’s movement. Half to reach maximum speed and the other half to slow down.

Develop A Proper Golf Swing?

You have to complete each one of these components freely and effortlessly, without straining or forcing it. This requires toning of all the muscle groups involved, and flexibility in the shoulder, hips, back and legs. You will only achieve this through golf conditioning exercises. Unconditioned joint and muscles will strain and fail during the swing, eventually leading to injury.

Before you can develop a proper golf swing, therefore, it is essential to work out using golf swing exercises and flexibility training before you will be able to work on developing your own proper golf swing.

Many new golfers spend weeks on golf conditioning exercises developing the muscles required for the swing before they even play a round. Golf is no longer the leisure sport it was, and you will find it extremely difficult to develop a proper golf swing before your golf-specific muscles have been properly conditioned.
