Golf secrets are not easy to come by and you should regard every one you are given as a gift to be acted upon. I don’t have one but two secrets to give you, both intended to enable you to swing much easier and increase your power and distance.
All secrets for golf should be regarded as special, because golfers don’t like giving them away, and this is even truer if it shows you how to improve your golf swing. The first of the golf secrets I have for you is not really a secret at all; it’s something you should know already, but which most amateur golfers fail to understand.
The swing is an unnatural movement for the human body. It is awkward, and if you want to improve your swing you will have get your body used to the twisting movement or it will counteract any attempt you make. Your biggest hurdle will be to persuade your body that the rotational movement is natural - once you achieve that, your game will improve rapidly.
Golf makes your muscles move in a very different way to what they are accustomed to, and they have to be trained to do that. Golf-specific exercises will train your muscles to work in the unnatural way they have to in order to execute a perfect golf drive. A golf secret doesn't get much better than that.
You should always carry out some simple stretching exercises before your round, but be sure that you warm up first or you are liable to injure or strain your muscles. This is one of the more important of the golf secrets I have for you, and the warm up can be as simple as walking briskly from the car to the practice range. This raises your core body temperature slightly so that your muscles are less liable to injury when you start your stretches.
Your shoulders, lower back and hamstrings need special attention due to the great demands put on them by your swing. A few simple movements such as arm crosses and circles will warm up the shoulder joints, and your lower back and hamstrings can be stretched with a few toe touches with slightly bent knees. Always make the movements slow and you will avoid injury.
Another secret is to ensure that you repeat your stretching exercises after your golf round. You should warm down as well as warm up. You frequently see track athletes doing a few stretches after their race. This stops them tightening up and getting sore.
These valuable golf secrets are very beneficial in helping your body attune to the rigors of the golf swing, and improving your game. That is why I produced my Golf Fitness DVDs to improve your golf specific strength and flexibility right in your home with minimal equipment.
