They say hooking the golf ball is a good players fault. Even so, Joe here is tired of hooking his ball. This statement may be true...but coming from a severe hooker of the ball (me) it's not too enjoyable and can get you into a ton of trouble off the tee!
There are tons of golf tips on how to correct a hook...and it is quite easy to fix...but doing it on the course is a totally different ball game!
Hooking the golf ball is a result of a closed clubface at impact. This causes a sidespin on the ball that expounds the ball flight even more. Without being there in person to watch you swing, there are a couple of reasons for hooking the ball. One is grip. If you are a right-handed golfer and your left hand is turned way to the right, and your right hand is underneath the club, you are going to hook the daylights out of the ball, unless you hold on and don't release the club.
Another cause of a hook is the bowed left wrist at the top of the backswing. This is not a very common swing fault, but a bowed left wrist dramatically closes the clubface at the top of the backswing. If all else stays the same, you have a closed clubface at impact causing a hook.

The quickest and easiest cure of a golf hook is adjusting your grip. Turning your left hand to the left, so it is not so over the top of the handle, and taking your right hand and covering the the thumb of your left hand. This is a more neutral grip, and can allow you to fulling release the club at impact.
You can also to to go the exact opposite and try to make an outside to in swing that typically would result in a slice, but if you are a hooker of the ball, you will most likely meet halfway in the middle and hit a fairly straight shot.
Make these two adjustments in your swing during a practice session and see which one is the more effective for you. Trial and error is your only prescription. Practice it until your golf hook is cured.
Doesn't a simple golf swing sound like a dream? A swing with no "swing thoughts" or mental checklists. If you're looking for a simple, easy and very effective way to improve your golf swing and eliminate your hook, I strongly recommend the Simple Golf Swing ebook.
