Have you ever thought that you had to improve your golf game? Have you ever tried, by buying a better set of clubs then going down to the range and pounding balls down the course all day? Did it work? Did it improve your golf game? Of course not. Have much did you spend on all that new equipment and gadgets to help you improve your game?
Alternatively, perhaps you have heard that golf is a mental game and that the right mental attitude will win through in the end. Have you ever thought of going on the course and willing your ball to go where you want it? Did that approach help you to improve your golf game? Of course not!
Golf may have much to do with your mental state, but the first mental part is to prepare your mind for what is really necessary to improve your golf game. Golf exercise. Conditioning your body so that it can effortless carry out the complex rotational movements required for that all-important part of your game – your swing.
Golf exercise is not connected with the heavy weights and circuit training that many other athletes get involved with. It is lighter, and specific to the muscles and joints used in the game of golf. It’s nothing to be frightened of so get away from that amateur mindset that is keeping you believing that golf is recreational. These days are over, and if you think like that you will never improve your golf game.
I have trained 80 year olds who have been able to carry out golf-specific exercise without any problems. Are you saying that you can’t do what 80 year olds can do? If they can improve their golf games at their age, you certainly can. If 80 year olds can do it, then these exercises can’t be all that hard, can they.
Again, it’s in your mind. Unless you keep an open mind as to how you can improve your golf game, you will never achieve it. If you close your mind to exercise, because you have never had to exercise before, so why start now, you will fail. If you think that golf is still a recreational game, you will fail.
Once your body is physically conditioned to play golf, once your body is your best tool, then your body and mind can combine to improve your golf game beyond anything you could imagine. Then, you will be a winner.
