If you thought of taking a golfing vacation in Florida what destination would first come to mind? Probably Orlando – am I right? The popularity of Orlando must have something to do with Disney World, and that and Miami seem to be the only two resorts people initially think of. Whatever the reason, no one seems to think of Tampa – at least not without prompting. Is this true of you also? Tampa Offers Something for EverybodyYou obviously know of Miami and Orlando, but were you aware that Tampa is the third largest city in Florida? In fact Tampa is growing and thriving and offers a superb choice of luxury accommodation, superb gourmet cuisine and a fantastic choice of entertainment all day long for all the family. The Tampa Bay area is home to a number of fabulous golf resorts that would make any golf vacation a memorable experience for everyone involved. Resorts such as Saddlebrook with its excellent courses designed by Arnold Palmer, only 25 miles North of Tampa. Tampa is surrounded by great golf courses, and all Tampa golf vacations should include a visit to the Innisbrook Golf Resort, almost 1000 acres designed to entertain and containing four top quality golf courses. Tampa offers a lot more than golf, of course, and a golf vacation in Tampa would also offer a wide range of museums including the Salvador Dali Museum, the Florida Aquarium and shark tanks, loads of entertainment, great food and shopping your wife would kill for. However, it’s the golf that tops it all. World Woods Provides a Great example of Tom Fazio’s WorkOf the other courses around Tampa, World Woods, which is an hour’s drive from Tampa, has two magnificent golf courses designed by Tom Fazio in 1993, and is well worth a visit during your golf vacation. Both courses are great to play while on holiday and this should really be the number one stopping point for all Tampa golf vacations. Apart from the two full size courses, there is also a nine hole course and three separate holes for warming up, a par 3, 4 and 5. There is a large driving range and an eighteen hole putting green. You should not miss this Tom Fazio creation if you intend taking a golfing vacation in the Tampa area. Why don’t you try it? A golf vacation in Tampa is well worth taking,
and even if the rest of your family aren’t keen players, there is more
than enough to keep them occupied while you enjoy yourself out on the golf course. Mike Pedersen |
