Do you want to know the quickest way to longer drives? Improving your core strength specific to golf. You may have heard the term core, but do you really know what it is? Once you learn, you'll soon realize this is the key to unlock a brutally powerful golf drive!
I can get real technical on your and define every muscle fiber in your core, but that won't server you a purpose, or give you a better understanding of how to apply this to your longer drives aspirations.
In the most simplistic term your core is your abdominals. This is a general, very broad statement, but that's all you need to know to improve your golf driving distance. If people try to tell you differently, you can choose to listen, or get started on your strength exercises targeting your core, specific to golf.
When you make a backswing, you are rotating your upper body, using your core muscles. If your core is weak or tight, your backswing will be feable, and with no stored torque. From the top of your backswing your core muscles fire resulting in an explosive move into the ball.
When your core muscles are strong, you will be able to plow through the ball at impact and all the up into a full finish. It's amazing how impacting this area of your body is when it comes to producing higher clubhead speeds and driving distance.
When you start your core training for golf strength, you need to make sure they are going to benefit your golf swing and not hurt it. These types of exercises are typically done with balls, bands and hand weights.
Targeting your core with strength exercises is the wisest decision you can make if you want to be the long hitter in your foursome! Improving your strength in your core will dramatically increase your driving distance with no more effort on your part. Just let your core do all the work in your golf swing.
The golf swing is a rotational movement...plain and simple! Turn back - turn through! When you work on your core, try to add as many rotational (twisting) movements as you can.
The more twisting exercises you can do, the faster you'll see your power and driving distance go up.
